Baby Bump…Weeks 17+18+19

Here is the latest in my pregnancy diary….

How Far Along: Currently 20 weeks but these are the details from weeks 17+18+19

Maternity Clothes? I am officially wearing maternity jeans now! I’m finding my bump is higher this time so I have to have either really low pants or the full band–anything in the middle really digs into my stomach and is not pleasant!

Stretch Marks: Not yet!

Sleep: Sleeping is still fine…I’m still holding out on using the “life raft” but I normally get up at least once a night for a bathroom break!

Best Moment this Week: Every night when I rest on the couch I feel the baby moving around in my belly and every time I think, “There is nothing better than feeling baby kicks!”

Miss Anything: I miss being able to eat lunch meat or drink caffeine in large quantities without feeling guilty!

Movement: I normally feel the baby move every morning and every evening, or when I wear a certain pair of pants that dig into my belly right where the baby sits! I haven’t felt kicks on the outside yet, but feel lots of moving around on the inside.

Food Cravings: Right now I am currently LOVING green apples, and other fruit…oranges, grapes, raisins…probably because the weather is getting warmer and those are all “summer” foods!

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: I haven’t felt sick in several weeks, which is AWESOME!

Gender: Still 75% sure it’s a girl but should know for sure in ONE WEEK!

Labor Signs: N/A

Symptoms: I think I am finally hitting the “best weeks” of pregnancy. I am not sick anymore, and not quite as tired. Having a two-year-old to keep up with definitely makes me more tired than my first pregnancy, but the absolute exhaustion is subsiding. My back is feeling better, and I’m still able to exercise and walk regularly. I want to take advantage of this time before my belly gets bigger and the summer heat sets in!

Wedding rings on or off? On

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy

Looking forward to: Knowing for sure if this babe is a BOY or a GIRL!

Baby Bump…Weeks 15 + 16

Here is the latest in my pregnancy diary….While I do these posts mostly for my own recollection, I hope it’s helpful for all the other pregnant ladies out there to see what I’m going through, too!

How Far Along: Currently 17 weeks but these are the details from weeks 15 + 16

Maternity Clothes? Still living in my black maternity leggings with tunics or long cardigans!

Stretch Marks: Not yet!

Sleep: I still haven’t had to break out what my husband calls the “life raft” but have to sleep on my side with a pillow between my knees. I also get up at least once a night for a bathroom break!

Best Moment this Week: Feeling what I think are the first movements of the baby in my tummy! Also, hearing the heartbeat at my 16 week check up is a sound that never gets old! This time it was 155, so a bit slower…could that mean boy?

Miss Anything: I miss not feeling tired, but I guess we accept exhaustion for life the moment we become a mother.

Movement: I started feeling little baby flutters at the end of 16 weeks!

Food Cravings: I am still really into Zebra Cakes and Oatmeal Pies as my special treats.

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: I still find certain meats repulsive, as well as water (if I’m feeling nauseous) or milk.

Gender: Still 75% sure it’s a girl but should find definitely in another month.

Labor Signs: N/A

Symptoms: The overall nausea subsided around week 14, though I still threw up at 15 weeks when I got too hungry. I thought my exhaustion was getting better until week 16….I don’t think I have EVER been this tired…but I think that may have something to do with a certain (almost) two-year-old who happens to be VERY ACTIVE! I am also having some back issues and have had to start doing some physical therapy and exercises to get it feeling better.

Looking forward to: Feeling the baby really kick…and having AJH finally understand that there is a baby in my tummy!

Baby Bump…Weeks 13 + 14

I saw this checklist on a few other maternity blogs and thought it was a god way to cover all of the bases of the pregnancy week by week without having to really form complete sentences….which, as previously mentioned, can be very difficult with “pregnancy brain!”

How Far Along: 14 weeks

Total weight gain: about 4-5 lbs

Maternity Clothes? I’m already wearing maternity jeans, though they aren’t exactly fitting the same as last time. I think my belly might be higher this time, which is actually a blessing since I carried AJH extremely low, which was super uncomfortable. The dr. told me that I would probably carry lower each time, but let’s hope that’s not the case! I’m pretty much already living in low-waisted leggings…anything else cuts into my stomach and makes me uncomfortable.

Stretch Marks: Not yet. Luckily I never got them last time, so I hope that doesn’t change!

Sleep: So far so good. I’m already sleeping on my side, but haven’t had to break out what my husband calls the “life raft” (pregnancy pillow) yet!

Best Moment this Week: Hearing another fast heartbeat of 170 at my 13 week check-up.

Miss Anything: Being able to fit into my favorite jeans!

Movement: Not yet.

Food Cravings: Sugar, but not really desserts…more like foods from my childhood, such as Frosted Flakes, Pop-tarts, and Zebra Cakes.

Anything Making You Queasy or Sick: I find certain meats repulsive.

Gender: 75% sure it’s a girl

Labor Signs: N/A

Symptoms: Weeks 10-13 could be summed up with “starvexhausea” (starving, exhausted, nausea) but week 14 has been looking up! I finally took my sea bands off today, and felt pretty good unless I was hungry. The second I get hungry I start to gag so I try to keep lots of snacks on hand. I’m still pretty tired, but can make it through the day without a nap (if I have to!).

Looking forward to: My bump getting bigger…I can’t wait for it to look like a real baby and not just a few extra pounds!

Baby Bump…Weeks 1-12!

As I recently announced…yes, we are expecting baby #2! We are very thrilled but there is something about the first trimester that just takes it out of you…I haven’t felt like doing much of anything…especially write blog posts! I blame it on exhaustion, but also the infamous “pregnancy brain.” Sometimes it just feels impossible to put thoughts together into a cohesive sentence. So for now, I’ll just do a quick post highlighting the pregnancy thus far….

-On Thanksgiving Day I took a pregnancy test (4 days early) and it was negative

I was very grumpy, and told my mom I was wearing pajamas to Thanksgiving dinner because I was “fat and bloated and felt pregnant” and was in an awful mood because I wasn’t. For a whole week I had just known I was…I had a few cramps, was STARVING, exhausted, and having lower back pain… so when that test came out negative I was pretty disappointed.

-Four days later I was still waiting….so I took another test and it was POSITIVE! I knew it! I had AJH take the test into the hubby (who was still in bed) and he was pretty shocked, to say the least. Excited but SHOCKED. (He was shocked with AJH, too, and that was after 16 months of trying!)

-We announced the news to our immediate family pretty quickly. We had AJH pretend she had a Christmas song to share with them, which I helped her sing. It was “Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to share that a BABY’S ON THE WAY!”

-We waited until Christmas day when I was 8 weeks to announce to the rest of our family. I got AJH a shirt from Etsy to declare the news!

-Meanwhile, I was already starting to show…the second one really pops out much faster! I immediately gained five pounds…and quickly lost it again when the throwing up commenced.

-From about 10 weeks on the nausea started to get pretty bad. At 11 weeks (after sucking on lemons, drinking homemade ginger tea from sweet friends, and trying every other natural remedy) I finally realized that SEA BANDS were my best friend! They have really made a difference and I don’t take them off now except to shower! I hope over the next few weeks it starts to die down.

-We are now over 12 weeks and recently had a a big ultrasound to confirm that everything is looking good! The dr. made a guess that baby #2 is a GIRL during our appointment, but he is only 75% sure for now…We’ll have to wait a few more weeks for confirmation.
